Day Twelve (In Class): Presentation Day!

Having a Successful Sharing Time

Your teacher will ask the class what being a good audience members means and explain the keys to having a successful sharing time.

The teacher will have students' presentations downloaded as PowerPoint presentations in a folder to play them. As each student's story is shown, that student will get up and introduce their powerpoint, giving a brief background on the story and sharing one thing that was fun about the project and one thing that was hard.

After the Presentations

Classmates will share compliments about each other's presentations at the end of class and throughout the day!

KWL Chart: What do you know about jazz?

Your ticket out the door is to show your teacher how much you now know about jazz music. Please fill out this KWL chart, writing what you know, what you wonder, and what you learned about:
1) the story behind jazz music

2)
the creative tools musicians use when playing instruments

Then, write 1-3 sentences in response to the following question: How is music used to communicate things about ourselves?

Wrapping Up

Thank you for going on this musical, cultural journey with your teacher. You are unique and have your own story to tell; your culture, your life experiences, and many more things shape who you are and the music you listen to and make. Share about what you have learned with your teachers, parents, siblings, and friends and remind them that they have a neat story to tell as well!
