About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Aliciana Zamora, and I am a student at Thunder Mountain High School. I am a High School Teaching Assistant for JAMM, and I help teach the Joplin Cellos. I play multiple instruments, but my primary instrument is the double bass. I have been playing instruments since I was five, but started playing the bass when I was eight. In terms of hobbies outside of playing music, I enjoy skiing, reading, photography and songwriting. I was born in Utah, but have lived in Juneau for most of my life. I'm very family-oriented, and enjoy working with children. I enjoy various forms of music, whether it be classical, modern pop, or even different languages of music. Music has no boundaries, and I value that.
What music is to me
Whenever I'm feeling down or just need a moment to myself, I can turn to music. Music motivates me as well as inspires me. Music is my backbone, and I know it will always be there. Music is what has been my support through everything, and its my backbone. Through all of life's ups and downs, music has been there. Music is a part of me, and I plan to make it my future. Throughout my music career I have had many opportunities to perform for others and spread my love for it. To further improve my skills and learn from others, I have worked with several ensembles and orchestras, as well as audition for different music programs. In 2019 I participated in the All-State Music Festival in Anchorage Alaska, where I met people I have met otherwise, and learned a lot about what my future may look like.

Being a part of JAMM
I've been involved with JAMM since I was five, and I was also part of JAMM's first group. After I left elementary school I didn't want to give JAMM up as it was very important to me, so in middle school I would walk to Glacier Valley Elementary with my friends so we would volunteer and help out and teach younger kids. When I entered high school, they offered paying jobs as teaching assistants at Riverbend Elementary, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I love being a part of JAMM and I am ecstatic I get to work with younger kids who love music as well. It warms my heart to see that they have the same opportunity as I did for having music be a big part of their life.

My hopes for the future
Throughout my life I new I would want music to be involved in my future career, but I didn't quite know how yet. After working with JAMM for many years, I realized I have a passion for music as well as working with children. Taking these two passions I have a goal to become a secondary music teacher in the future. I strongly believe that music benefits students, and so I hope to inspire future generations to pursue music and fall in love with it the same way I have. If this plan doesn't work, I still hope to do something involving music.
