Lingít Dance and Drumming
Lingít Dance and Drumming at Sitʼ Eetí Shaanáx̱ - Glacier Valley was founded by former cultural and language teacher, Hans Chester, who is now teaching the Lingít language at TCLL. JAMM is thrilled to partner with Jinkasee.ee Rose Willard, Sítʼ Eetíʼ Shaanáx̱ Glacier Valley cultural specialist (and mom!) and lead drummer with Woosh.ji.Een Dance Group. Yuxgitisiy George Holly, who is teaching Lingít language in JAMMʼs K-2 in-school program, has joined her!
For the 2023-24 school year, this dance and drumming group is 65 students strong in grades 2nd - 5th! We are excited to perform for the upcoming Community Feast event at the University of Alaska Southeast on November 15, 2023.
