Family String Classes

JAMM is offering a free ukulele class and a free guitar class for JAMM families!
Classes will meet each Wednesday,  May 31-June 21; students, families, and Juneau friends are invited to learn ukulele side by side!

Class Details:
  • Classes will be held in person at Floyd Dryden Middle School. We will meet in the Orchestra Classroom.
  • Ukulele class will meet 5:15-6pm. Guitar class will meet 6:15-7pm
  • All JAMM class offerings are tuition-free, however, we rely on donations to make this happen. If you are able to help JAMM cover class costs, click here to donate.
  • Ukulele and Guitar Check Out: JAMM has a limited number of Auke Bay, Glacier Valley and Riverbend instruments that can be checked out to JAMM students. These instruments will be checked out by your schoolʼs music teacher on a first come, first served basis. Like a library book, students will be responsible for the care of the instruments; all instruments will be collected at the end of the last class.

Ukulele & Guitar Details:
  • JAMM students may check out up to 2 ukuleles: one for their personal use and one for a family member. Instruments will be checked out to each student's school library account.
  • Students may use their personal instruments as well.
  • Students who check out an instrument must participate in JAMM’s family class.
  • Instruments must be returned by the last class date.

JAMM must raise $250 per child every school year to cover the cost of teachers, instruments, and materials. We ask families to contribute $100 for the year to help cover program costs; however, your donation is voluntary, and no child experiencing financial hardship will ever be denied enrollment in JAMM.
  • To make a donation to JAMM, please click here, or visit the "donate" tab on JAMM's homepage.
