About Me

Hello! I am Talitha Hammond and I am a high schooler with Raven Homeschool. I was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. I started learning the piano when I was 5 and a year later I joined JAMM and learned the violin. To this day I still love to play both instruments. In more recent years I became a High school teaching assistant for JAMM and work with the Copland and Beethoven violin groups. I currently receive my musical instruction from Mr. Franz and Mary DeSmet. Other than playing music my hobbies include, reading, writing, walking with friends, homework, and listening to music from the soundtracks.

What Music Means For Me

Music is the spark that lights up my imagination. I often sit and write down my stories while listening to music. Music to me is like a story and each song is a story. No matter how many times you listen to a song it could be a different story. During my time playing with different orchestras, I enjoy listening to the different parts that make up the song. With some of those orchestras as a group we accomplished great things. For example, with my eighth grade orchestra we traveled to Anaheim, California to participate in the Anaheim Music Festival. It was amazing listening to the other musicians from around the United States performing all kinds of music.

My JAMM Experience

Picture
I have been apart of the JAMM family since I was 6 years old. When I started Middle School I went back to Glacier Valley to help out and later in High school I became a teaching assistant. In sixth grade me and other teaching assistants (including Miss Ali and Miss Jemima) created a band and wrote a song called "I am Juneau". Later we performed at the Juneau Assembly meeting in 2017. Now I love helping teach the younger generation of Jammers learn how to play their instrument and find their love of music. Currently I help out with the Copland and Beethoven violin groups.

My Plans for the Future

My current plans are to finish High school and apply for college, although I am not sure which college to apply for. In college I plan to either study literature or music or both. When I am an adult I want to continue sharing the joy of music to children by possibly teaching violin and piano. I also would like to publish some of my stories if I ever finish them.
